Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse : the return of Miles Morales
In 2018, Bob Persichetti, Peter Ramsey and Rodney Rothman directed, from a screenplay by Phil Lord and Rodney Rothman, the excellent Spider-Man: New Generation. This animated film produced and distributed by Sony focuses on the adventures of Miles Morales. Coming from an alternate Earth to ours, this little boy is bitten by a radioactive spider and given the powers of Spider-Man. Well, because the Peter Parker of his world is dead and … Earth-1610 no longer has a protector.

Spider-Man: New Generation thus chronicles the beginnings of Miles Morales as Spider-Man, in the midst of an exciting multiversal storyline. Faced with the impressive critical acclaim of the first part, and his 384 million dollars of worldwide box office receipts, Sony Pictures has launched production on two sequels: Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Versepublished Wednesday 31 May 2023 e Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Versescheduled for April 3, 2024.
A big cameo
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse further develops the notion of the multiverse. Miles Morales roams the depths of the multiverse and encounters many other Spider-Men. The opportunity for directors Joaquim Dos Santos, Kemp Powers and Justin Thompson to place easter egg and cameos in all corners of the screen. Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse East extremely generous in terms of comic book references. And we want to name a few. If you don’t want to be SPOILERSwe recommend to stop reading this article. You have been warned!
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse offers many appearances. When Miguel O’Hara explains how the time continuum works to Miles Morales, Joaquim Dos Santos, Kemp Powers and Justin Thompson have fun reusing images from Spiderman by Sam Raimi and the The Incredible Spider-Man by Mark Webb. The opportunity to cross paths with Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield. But the real cameo of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse do you come from Marvel cinematic universe (MCU).

In fact, when Miles Morales walks through Miguel O’Hara’s headquarters, he encounters several supervillains. It is in this prison that he becomes aware of the presence of a alternate version of his late uncle Aaron Davis. Another character then explains to him that this is not the Aaron Davis of his universe. And this is where it gets interesting.
Indeed, Joaquim Dos Santos, Kemp Powers and Justin Thompson have the intelligence to remember comedian Donald Glover in the role. Miles Morales’ uncle was already encamped in the latter Spider-Man: Homecoming for a brief appearance. We find it like this six years later In Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, in a Ranger outfit. This suggests that the MCU’s Aaron Davis has also become the Prowler.
A big nod to fans of the Marvel Universe. A cameo that recalls the existence of the character (and therefore potentially of Miles Morales) in the MCU. Let’s hope this little easter egg allows for that bring Donald Glover and his Aaron Davis character back to center stage.
