New result animated with Spider-Man: Through the Spider-Verse
After Spider-Man: New Generation (2018), Miles Morales returns for a second animated work Spider-Man: Through the Spider-Verse. Like its predecessor, this feature impresses with its visual quality (see our review). The animation proposed by directors Joaquim Dos Santos, Justin K. Thompson and Kemp Powers offers a constant show using different visual styles. Logical since, as the title indicates, Spider-Man is prowling throughout this movie through different worlds.
In this adventure, Miles Morales finds Gwen Stacy working with spiders from different universes. Among them there is Spider-Man 2099 aka Miguel O’Hara. The latter explains that key moments occur in every universe. Thereby, all spiders present suffered a loss. And Miles realizes that tragedy is bound to strike his family very soon. Refusing to let fate happen, he manages to return to his universe to save his father. At least that’s what he thinks, before discovering that he has landed on Earth-42, not Earth-1610 Where is he from…
Miles Morales stranded on Earth-42
The explanation for this phenomenon is quite simple and is provided Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. We learn that Miles Morales was never meant to be bitten the spider that gave him his powers. This came from another universe, from Earth-42. By biting Miles, she made him Spider-Man of Earth-1610, but left Earth-42 orphaned of the superhero.
Result, when Miles uses the machine that allows you to travel across universes, on which this is based his DNA modified by the spider. And so he thinks he’s from Earth-42. It’s when he gets there that he finds out his father died, but his uncle is still alive. However he is not the Predator. This turns out to be the miles of Earth-42. A totally different world then and without the intervention of Spider-Man.
The importance for the future
Asked by varietysaid co-director Kemp Powers details on this ending and on his importance for the continuation of the saga. He specifically explains that it was important to have Miles in this situation. Who wants to save his father, but discovers a world created involuntarily by himself. From there, we’re told Miles won’t be leaving try to get back to his worldbut that things will be more complex.
It won’t be as simple as wanting to escape this world. He will try to do what is right for people who have not been treated properly because of him. This offers greater and unpredictable emotional potential as we progress through the third film.
We understand from this that Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse it will linger on Earth-42 and no doubt Miles will try to do so correct the shot becoming, at least temporarily, the hero of this world. Above all, we can expect to see him try to get better on the right path his uncle and the Miles of Earth-42. It will also allow filmmakers to explore many possibilities and sure to surprise the viewers. What about him insists Kemp Powers:
This complicates his mission in ways that we hope will be unexpected and exciting for viewers.
