The Flash: focus on the post-credits scene

The Flash: focus on the post-credits scene

The flash : DC takes on the multiverse

AS Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness in the MCU and Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse on the side of Sony Pictures, it’s the turn of DC Films to take on the Multiverse with The flash. AS Spider-Man: There’s no way back home before him, Andy Muschietti’s film reports iconic figures of superhero cinema like Michael Keaton as Batman. More than thirty years after his last appearance in Batman: The Challengethe actor puts on the dark knight costume to the delight of the fans.

Of course, Michael Keaton is not the only cameo in the feature film, which has many surprises in store for its audience. One of them occurs during the post-generic sequence. Why yes, like many superhero movies, The flash it only has one additional scene.

Focus on the post-credits scene

At the end of The flash, Barry Allen brings order to the time continuum. And while he thinks he has solved all the problems of continuity and temporality, the young man is the victim of great disillusionment. In the final moments of the film, things seem to work out. He returns home, and thanks to his intervention, his father is acquitted during the trial.

Happy, Barry Allen decides to contact Batman. It is then that he realizes he has entered the bad universe. Indeed, in this mirror universe, Bruce Wayne is no longer embodied by Ben Affleck, but by the famous George Clooneywho played Batman in 1997 on batman and robin.

Flash is then stuck in an alternate universe. The post-credits sequence then takes place in this same universe. And Barry Allen tracks down Aquaman. This is, in this universe, always played by Jason Momoa. The two superheroes have just gotten drunk in a bar. But Flash’s metabolism prevents him from being drunk, unlike Aquaman who ends the night in a puddle in the middle of a sidewalk.

A sequence that hides things?

If this sequence is deceptively simple comic candy, could hide bigger plans. James Gunn and Peter Safran are preparing to completely revamp the DC Universe. The flash (like next) Aquaman and the lost kingdom) is one of the last vestiges of the DC Extended Universe that began in 2013 with man of Steel. By now James Gunn and Peter Safran have already thanked Henry Cavill, Gal Gadot and Dwayne Johnson.

The duo prefers a priori to continue without these three actors, and therefore reboot the Superman and Wonder Woman characters. James Gunn is also working on this topic as he is currently working on his Superman: Legacy. But what about the other heroes? This is a question to which we do not yet have an answer. It is not known whether Zachary Levi (Shazam), Ben Affleck (Batman), Jason Momoa (Aquaman) or even Ezra Miller (Fast) will still be part of it.

The answer can then be found in this post-credits scene. If the Flash decides to settle in this new universe, the possibilities are limitless. James Gunn could use this post-credits scene for establish his DC Universe in this new continuity. Through this process, she was able to freely enjoy DC characters. She could have total freedom, and simply justify, the changes of actors, while keeping the ones she wants.
