Ms. Marvel Star Iman Vellani reveals her infinitely awkward first meeting with boss Kevin Feige

Before moving on to the big screen on wonders, Ms. Marvel will make her official Marvel Cinematic Universe debut in her Disney + series of the same name. It is going to be an exciting time for fans as it will be the first time they will see Iman Vellani as a teenage superhero. The new lead star of Marvel Studios was already a fan of the MCU before she was cast, having grown up with the superhero franchise. With that, she was also a huge fan of the people behind the multi-billion dollar franchise like Kevin Feige, with whom Vellani says she had an endearing and awkward first encounter.

Since being cast as Kamala Khan, Iman Vellani seems to have settled in quite well in the “Marvel lifestyle”. Even if you’re getting into a car like the MCU, it’s only natural for things to be a little overwhelming at first. He spoke with Vellani THR to join the vast franchise and, as he recalled his first face-to-face meeting with Kevin Feige, learned of the “cathartic” experience:

My favorite people on the planet are Robert Downey Jr., Billy Joel, and Kevin Feige. The day [Feige] arrived on the set, I was completely frozen. She was trying to talk to me and I watched him until she left, then I went back to my trailer and cried harder than ever. It was the most cathartic feeling of all.

And that was just the beginning. Apparently, the same thing happened when she met Marvel Studios co-chair Louis D’Esposito and casting director Sarah Finn. Honestly, you can’t blame the up-and-coming actress for being “nervous” under the circumstances. It’s just amazing that a true fan of the franchise is now a part of it. Plus, she plays a character she has a deep affinity for:

I was just surprised that a superhero comic would show Eid. . . . He was my total comfort person. She felt very similar to me, and a lot of that comes not only from her background and her ethnicity, but also because she is a huge fan of the Marvel Universe.

In short, Iman Velllani looks perfect for the role, a sentiment that has echoed in many early reactions to Mrs. Wonder. And if you need further proof of Velllani’s commitment to the concert, he admitted he knows exactly which comics the scenes were drawn from. This is dedication. And to believe that she nearly lost her hearing because she was too shy to send a tape.

The actress is just one of many new stars who join the MCU in the post-End of the game world. New Jersey-born Kamala Khan will most likely be a major cast member of the franchise going forward, meaning Iman Vellani will likely have more than a few other encounters with Kevin Feige and company. in the next future. But now that they know each other better, she’s probably not a fangirl anymore … that much.

Mrs. Wonder debuts June 8 and will be available to stream with a Disney + subscription. The series will serve as a good appetizer before the character hits theaters on July 28, 2023 as part of wonders along with Brie Larson and Teyonah Parris.
