Are you constantly pulling in your belly? Stop this habit immediately – it’s dangerous!

Who among us hasn’t tucked in our stomachs to look better in the photo? For many it becomes a habit – you want to be in good shape all the time. But it turns out it’s a bad habit.

In fact, the stomach must remain “soft” – otherwise there is a risk of tension and weakening of the functions of internal organs. Osteopath Anji Gopal said many of his patients were unaware that abdominal retraction could have long-term health consequences.

Do not take care! In our articles, we collect the latest scientific data and the opinions of authoritative health experts. But remember: only a doctor can diagnose and prescribe treatment.

“The belly protects the organs, supports the lower body (including the back). Especially in women, in a natural position, it is rounded, not flat. It also allows the torso to move flexibly and not be static,” says Anji.

Constant retraction can cause a lot of strain in the back and affect our internal organs.

“Among other things, it has a detrimental effect on our breathing. Try to breathe deeply while drawing in your stomach, it’s almost impossible,” adds the osteopath.

But it’s not just muscle “pulling” that can cause problems – shapewear can also have a very negative effect on our bodies if worn all the time. It seems to “cement” the musculoskeletal system and leads to overwork.

“Muscles need to contract and relax,” Anji recalls.
