Sometimes in the summer you just want to eat berries – for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Of course, don’t forget about foods high in protein and healthy fats, as well as the fact that berries are quite high in sugar.
Nutritionists advise to monitor the consumption of fruits and berries – and limit yourself to a portion of 200 grams per day. And yet, we are well aware that sometimes we want to take full advantage of the summer harvest!
However, uncontrolled consumption of summer berries is not a good idea. At first glance, it seems that eating a kilo of cherries is much better than eating too many chips and chocolate. At the same time, such a volume of cherries contains the same number of calories as in a large packet of crisps – exactly 500. And up to 85 grams of sugar, which is almost twice its daily intake.
At the same time, eating a kilogram of berries is a very realistic task, especially if you extend the pleasure throughout the day. So, let’s evaluate the calorie and sugar content of the most popular summer berries – and conclude which of them can be eaten in greater quantities.
- Cherry. Contains about the same calories as cherries, but slightly less sugar

- Raspberries. There are 520 kcal per 1 kg of berries. At the same time, raspberries contain little sugar and a lot of fiber, so you can eat them without remorse.
- Strawberry. The perfect summer berry! There are only 320 kcal for 1 kg of strawberries. However, do not forget that strawberries often cause allergies.

- Ribes red. Better than black in terms of calories – only 440 kcal / kg. And this berry has a very low glycemic index, so it is recommended for diabetes.
- Blackberry. As good as raspberries with strawberries, 430 kcal per kilogram and lots of fiber. Too bad it’s so rare for sale!
- Blueberry. Contains only 348 calories per kilogram of berries. At the same time, it contains more sugar than strawberries, blackberries and raspberries, and the price is so high that it is unlikely that he can eat a kilogram of berries in a day.
- Apricots. Better to limit. There are almost 500 kcal per kilogram of apricots – and twice the daily dose of sugar
- Watermelon. Without it, nowhere in summer! And although a kilo of watermelon contains only 300 kcal, it contains very little fiber and a lot of sugar.
