This Popular Nutrition Myth Is Wrong – Stop Following It Now

There are many artificial rules about nutrition, and today we’re going to demystify one of the most popular – don’t drink with meals.

No drinks with meals – how many times have we heard of that! Apparently, drinking water and other beverages with meals can lead to digestive issues because the excess fluid will dilute stomach acid, making it less able to break down and digest the food you eat.

Don’t take care! In our articles, we collect the latest scientific data and the opinions of authoritative health experts. But remember: only a doctor can diagnose and prescribe treatment.

But in fact, this is a misconception. The reverse is true: stomach acid production increases even with food and drink. Dietary fiber swells due to the extra liquid in drinks and is therefore even easier to digest.

However, although drinking with meals is more likely to improve digestion, drinks should not be consumed directly with food. Chewing food and producing saliva is the first step in breaking down food and preparing it for digestion in the stomach.
