Despite the criticism and controversy surrounding The Weeknd’s series, it may have a continuation.
The new series of HBO, The Idolhas been generating controversy, despite the audience not having been the expected for the first season, the actress Da’Vine Joy Randolph who plays Destiny, told Varietythe possibility of the broadcaster producing a second one is poor.
“HBO is definitely interested in a second season. […] The network never intended The Idol to be a miniseries. HBO is quite pleased with the production and, despite rumors of the show’s cancellation, has debunked these allegations on Twitter – something that, in my opinion, they rarely do,” said Da’Vine.
The broadcaster published a note on its Twitter profile explaining:
It is being misreported that a decision on a second season of The Idol has been determined. It has not, and we look forward to sharing the next episode with you Sunday night.
