Miraculous the movie: Ladybug and Chat Noir at the cinema
Series Miraculous since 2015 it has been a huge success all over the world. This French-Korean-Japanese co-production created by Thomas Astruc and Jérémy Zag tells the adventures of Marinette, a young Parisian student, and her friend Adrien, who the ability to transform into a superhero at the slightest threat thanks to ancestral jewels. Their alter egos are called Ladybug and Cat Noir. Though they band together to protect the city of Paris from the threat of their enemy Le Papillon, who also seeks to get his hands on the magical jewels, they don’t know their true identities.
While season 5 of the series has come to an end, the first theatrical film dedicated to Ladybug and Chat Noir hit the screens this Wednesday 5 July. Directed by Jérémy Zag, it follows the plot of the series, but condensing the events of the first season. Plus it’s a musical, with many moments sung by the two young heroes.
What is the position of the film in relation to the series? Jeremy Zag answers us
If you are a viewer of the series, or on the contrary, you have never heard of Miraculousdon’t panic! The film is neither a sequel nor a prequel to the original show.. It’s more of an extended universe, as Jérémy Zag told us:
It’s a verse. All that mattered to me was that the kids could invite their parents and friends to see the film. We made sure that he could discover the universe through a very simple thing of 1h30 but in which we still have to deal with 9 characters: Marinette, Ladybug, Adrien, Chat Noir, three geniuses, Papillon, Gabriel. I wanted anyone in an hour and a half to be able to immerse themselves in this universe and understand the crossover game. It was supposed to be a capsule.

It’s a particular bias, so we decided with Thomas to do a separate verse, but with little winks for fans of the series, like with Coeur de Pierre, who is a gargoyle. I thought about both the people discovering and the fans
