House of the Dragon season 2: good news for fans

Hollywood on strike!

Hollywood has been in an uproar for several weeks now due toa massive writers’ strike voted by the WGA (the writers union). Since the beginning of May, the latter have stopped all activity. Specifically, they ask a salary increase. But while many productions have been able to continue using scripts written before the strike, things are now getting complicated.

actors and actresses they in turn decided to protest. Their union SAG-AFTRA has not reached an agreement with the main association of American audiovisual production and distribution companies AMPTP for improved working conditions. This strike has since had direct consequences for the industry all filming in progress (or almost) had to be stopped.

During the strike, actors and actresses members of SAG-AFTRA must cease their activity. This concerns filming but also official attendance, like on a red carpet for a preview. Reason why the cast ofOppenheimer he had to leave the film’s screening in London as soon as the strike was called. Leaving Christopher Nolan alone to present his feature film.

House of the Dragon : Season 2 continues

While this strike is massive, not all current projects are affected. Including a list of 39 productions selected by SAG-AFTRA which was allowed to continue filming. But as we are told Expirationthe highly anticipated season 2 ofHouse of the Dragon it also slips through the cracks.

The media explain that, even if the production is American, much of the cast is of British descent. These actors and actresses of the HBO series are therefore not under contracts managed by SAG-AFTRA. But they depend of the British syndicate Equity. A union that cannot allow its members to strike due to extremely strict laws in the UK.

Equity deplores this situation and would like urgent reformAnd. Because, in the state, an actor going on strike would expose himself to prosecution from the studios. The union then declares its support for the American struggle and regrets not being able to do the same.

The twisted and pernicious barriers facing all trade unions in the UK are a national disgrace and in need of urgent reform.

Filming of the second season ofHouse of the Dragon so it should continue despite the current situation. And if we can imagine that the US actors and actresses, currently on strike in the United States, would have preferred to be accompanied by their British colleagues, this news should please fans of the series who can thus hope that the next episodes will come faster.

According to the latest news, filming would begin in April, without even being affected by the writers’ strike. But we shouldn’t don’t find out about House of the Dragon season 2 before 2024.
