A monstrous cast for Oppenheimer
Christopher Nolan’s twelfth feature film, Oppenheimer plunges the viewer into the brilliant and tormented mind of the creator of the atomic bomb. Alternating between different temporalities, the film navigates between the youth of J. Robert Oppenheimer (Cillian Murphy), the decisive meetings of his life, his research and the design of nuclear weapons at Los Alamos, the famous Trinity test carried out on July 16, 1945 and the period marked by his remorse after the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

A political biopic of impressive density, complex and exciting, combined with an exhausting visual and sound proposal. The film is also characterized by outstanding acting performances. In addition to that of Cillian Murphy, it is impossible not to mention that of Robert Downey Jr. who, by lending his features to the philanthropist and politician Lewis Strauss, finds one of the best roles of him. Emily Blunt, Matt Damon, Florence Pugh, Josh Hartnett, Benny Safdie, Casey Affleck, Rami Malek, Jason Clarke, Olivia Thirlby, Kenneth Branagh, Alden Ehrenreich, Matthew Modine and Josh Peck round out the phenomenal cast ofOppenheimer.

Oppenheimer: the monumental work of Christopher Nolan
Gary Oldman, used to transformations
In a short but powerful scene from the last act, the protagonist converses with Harry Truman in the Oval Office. The latter then makes him understand that he has nothing to do with his moods and with his awareness of having “blood on his hands”. As the President of the United States, Gary Oldman appears once again unrecognizable after his transformations for Dracula, true romance, The fifth element, Hannibal or the recent The dark hours.

The film scores the fourth collaboration between the actor and Christopher Nolan after the trilogy dark Knight, in which he plays Commissioner Jim Gordon, a faithful ally of Bruce Wayne. If the director wanted to keep the surprise around this cameo, Cillian Murphy had spit the beans during a round table organized by Entertainment Weekly, talking about the privilege of shooting with the likes of Gary Oldman or Kenneth Branagh, who he says are among the “best actors in the world”. Meanwhile, Harry Truman’s interpreter had briefly confirmed the presence of him in “a scene” ofOppenheimer from the British radio station TalkSport in April 2022.
