Chess Streamer Hikaru Nakamura signs WME (exclusive) –

Professional chess player Hikaru (“GMHikaru”) has signed Nakamura with WME worldwide representation in all fields. The agency will expand Nakamura’s business with digital, literary, branded partnerships, unscripted television, licensing and more.

Nakamura has a huge following on Twitch, where he has 1.4 million subscribers and is the number one chess streamer on the Amazon-owned platform. He also organized and helped create Twitch’s Chess.com Pogchamps Tournament, an online tournament series for amateur players that garnered 30 million views.

He is also active on YouTube, with 1.3 million subscribers and over 1,800 videos posted in two and a half years. As the best speed chess player, Nakamura has won five US championships.

In anticipation of June 16, Nakamura will compete in the 2022 Candidates Tournament in Spain. The winner will play in the 2023 World Chess Championship with Norwegian grandmaster Magnus Carlsen in place of Challenger.

Nakamura was formerly represented on UTA.
