Riley Keough and the husband Ben Smith-Petersen welcomed their first daughter recently. The actress revealed the baby’s name and explained its meaning to the Vanity Fair (via People) . Tupelo Storm Smith-Petersen honors Elvis Presleygrandfather of rileyIt is Benjamin Keoughbrother.

Keough explained that, initially, the couple chose the first name. Tupelo is also the name given to the town in Mississippi where Elvis was born.

“It’s funny because we chose her name before the movie elvis. I was like, ‘This is great because [Tupelo] it’s not really well known as a word or a name attached to my family — it’s not like Memphis or anything like that,'” said the star of Daisy Jones & The Six. “But then the movie came along and it was Tupelo this way and Tupelo this way. I was like, ‘Oh, no,’ but that’s okay,” she said.

The compound name also references the middle name of the artist’s brother. Benjamin Storm Keough took her own in 2020, aged just 27.
