Longtime Studio salesman Steve Spira is ending his return to Warner Bros., resuming the role he previously held as president of commercial affairs.
Spira divorced Warners in November 2020. She first joined the studio in 1985 and quickly rose through the ranks. During his 35 years there, he oversaw major talent deals and managed key relationships with filmmakers such as Clint Eastwood and Christopher Nolan.
Courtney D. Armstrong took over when Spira left, but Armstrong moved to Paramount, also as head of business affairs, in October 2021. Since then, that position has not been filled.
Spira’s return comes after the merger of Warner Bros. and Discovery, with new CEO David Zaslav replacing the film division, even integrating the streaming platforms HBO Max and Discovery+, as well as popular networks like Food Channel, TNT and CNN. Roof. Zaslav promised not to spend too much on content as he seeks to position United Company as a leader in the streaming space. So Spira might have his work cut out for him in this age of broadcast wars and the shifting lines of broadcast and theatrical releases.

Spira will report to Zaslav and future film directors Michael de Luca and Pam Abdi.
