Timothy Olyphant Revealed Details About His Audition For JJ Abrams’ ‘Star Trek (1966)’ Reboot
Timothy Olyphant as captain kirk in star trek? It nearly happened. In an interview with the podcast Happy Sad Confusedactor revealed details about his audition for the reboot of Star Trek (1966) by JJ Abrams.
“Here’s what I can tell you about Star Trek: I went and auditioned not for Captain Kirk, but I remember reading with JJ Abrams and he’s just a lovely guy. And it was a really good audition process” , began the actor. “At one point during this process, I was auditioning for Doc, and he said, ‘I already have someone for Doc, so I don’t need you for this, but I don’t have a Kirk yet.’
olyphant he even said that, although they were convinced with his performance, the director of the reboot would like a younger actor. “And at some point, JJ called and said, ‘I found a younger guy, who is really good.'”
the role of captain kirk ended up going to Chris Pinefrom who olyphant says he’s a big fan. The actor adds that there are no hard feelings. “I’m a huge fan of him on and off screen. I love this guy.”
So far, plans for a Star Trek 4 are stalled at Paramount. After losing its director, the film was indefinitely delayed by the studio. The film would be directed by Matt Shakmanbut the filmmaker of WandaVision left the production to lead the reboot of Fantastic Four.
Before scheduled for December 2023, the film was removed from the studio’s release schedule, which is still looking for a new filmmaker to lead the production. The script for Star Trek 4 is signed by Lindsey Beer It is Geneva Robertson-Dworet.
The last Star Trek to hit theaters was Star Trek: Without Bordersfrom 2016. Directed by Justin Lin (Fast and furious), the film made $343 million worldwide, the lowest of the three films in the franchise.
