Additional shots to stay true to the story
Christopher McQuarrie e Tom Cruise chose to shoot Misson Impossible – The Showdown Part 1 AND Part 2 one after the other. Except that there was a lot of time between the two takes due to the Covid pandemic. And during this time, the performer of Ethan Hunt has changed its appearance a bit stick to the physical evolution of his character for the future. A change that had to be masked during the filming of the reshoots of part 1.

In the recent episode of the podcast Empire Spoiler SpecialChristopher McQuarrie discussed the additional scenes of The showdown Part 1. Before specifying that some of them had been filmed two years after the original scene.
What I particularly like is Ethan and Hailey (Atwell) when he finally says goodbye to her. And she said to him: “Go away.” This scene was shot two years after the other shots (this same scene). At first they acted differently, but during the new ending of the film we realized that it didn’t work…
Christopher McQuarrie later confided this Tom Cruise wore a wig in this additional scene of part 1. Why? Why Ethan Hunt has longer hair in the second part, which the team was filming at the time of filming: ” Tom is wearing a wig in this scene becausehas long hair for Dead Reckoning Part 2. So keep in mind that in all the cuts and re-shoots that we’ve done since we started shooting part two, Tom has a different hairstyle. He wears a wig for most of the movie. In (meal delivery scene), he wears a wig. And it’s a sensational wig made by our amazing makeup department “.
