Riverdale: Lili Reinhart gives her opinion on the absurdity of the series

Riverdale : not just a series for teenagers

Based on characters from Archie Comics, Riverdale it quickly became a hit with young audiences. Among them there is Archie Andrewschildhood friend of Betty Cooper. With them is Jughead, Archie’s best friend.

The trio will then see a new student arrive, Veronica Lodge. The show anyway a lot of irony. And it just pushes the “cliffhanger” principle far and away with all the kind of twists and turns it has become increasingly extravagant. It is this madness and absurdity of the story that was able to please some viewers. But that is also criticized by others.

In an interview given to vulnerability (on the occasion of the end of the series), Lily Reinhartthe interpreter of Betty, retraces his experience of Riverdale. The actress opens up about how the show has been received all these years, having enough awareness of the fun that the series can generate.

I think it’s important to be aware that we make fun of our shows a lot. People see clips taken out of context and think, “What? I thought this was a show about teenagers.” This is also what we thought in the first season.

Lili Reinhart moved by the teasing

For her, Riverdale it is not to be taken at face value. And if the series is also absurd, it is obviously voluntary. However, Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa’s approach hasn’t stopped viewers from doing so make fun of the series. Something the actress didn’t necessarily appreciate.

It wasn’t easy being the butt of a joke. We all want to be actors. We are passionate about what we do. So when the absurdity of our show became a talking point, it got tough. It’s totally “What the fuck.” But that’s the point. When we do our reading and something ridiculous happens, Roberto (Aguirre-Sacasa) laughs because he understands the absurdity and the comic aspect of it.

If the reactions of the public have been able to touch Lili Reinhart, she does not seem to have the slightest regret for having played with it Riverdale. On the contrary, the actress says she is lucky to have had “a regular fucking job for seven years“And she doesn’t think she’ll ever get the chance to have a role again.”more than 100 episodes“. Moreover, it is from his hearing for the role of Betty that Lili Reinhart felt good, when she had just moved to Los Angeles without money or work.

I remember after my last audition I was on the phone with my mom and I told her it was the first time in an audition process that I felt really good and at peace with the outcome, whatever it was: “I gave them my version of what be this character, take it or leave it.” That evening, I learned that I had had it.

Riverdale it will end after the seventh season which is expected to end on August 23 in the United States. Lili Reinhart has no upcoming projects of note. You can still (re)watch him on Netflix in the movie One life or another (2022).
