“I remember saying to Zack, ‘I feel like your hands are going to be very tied to what this franchise is, even though it kind of lives beyond itself.’ So I was kind of glad when it didn’t work out, because I always thought it was better that way.”
“We’ve learned a lot in all these years of working with superheroes and creating these worlds, and to do something now that’s totally original… Zack has been honing in to make something in this space look really exciting.”
Eric Newman also talked a little about “Rebel Moon” and how it changed from a story to “Star Wars” for a single film outside the franchise:
“I remember [Zack] call me at some point, and that must have been 15 years ago, saying, ‘I’m thinking about doing Seven Jedi in the ‘Star Wars’ universe. And I said it was a cool idea.”
