Burn salt : the joys and excesses of the aristocracy
Two years after the nice surprise Hopeful young womanawarded by Oscar for best original screenplayEmerald Fennell is back with her second directorial feature. Burn salt is set in the mid-2000s. A student at Oxford University, the young Oliver Quick (Barry Keoghan) befriends the wealthy Felix Catton (Jacob Elordi).
The latter invites him to pass “an unforgettable summer” in Saltburn, his huge family estate. Fascinated by the aristocracy, Oliver accepts. Attracted by an environment to which he does not belong, he finds himself confronted with his deepest desires during a stay marked by idleness, decadence and perversion. Rounding out the cast are Rosamund Pike, Richard E. Grant, Carey Mulligan, Paul Rhys and Archie Madekwe.
