TV Rating: 20M Watch Jan 6 Eaves, ABC and MSNBC Host

Just over 20 million people attended the House committee hearings on Jan. 6 Thursday night.

ABC and MSNBC drew the biggest audiences for their two-hour audition for Capitol Storm last year. They were broadcast live on dozens of cables and broadcasts. Fox News, which clearly did not offer full coverage of the ratings, drew audiences to its most recent 8am-10pm average, while MSNBC and CNN both had fairly high ratings in their usual ratings.

According to Nielsen, 20.04 million people watched the two-hour broadcast (excluding PBS, data not available at the time of publication). Just over a quarter of that came from ABC, which averaged 5.22 million viewers in two hours. In second place are MSNBC (4.3 million), followed by NBC (3.7 million), CBS (3.49 million) and CNN (2.74 million).

CNBC, CNNe, Fox Business, NBC LX, Newsmax and NewsNation also covered the auditions, including just over 600,000 viewers.

ABC also topped the top news demographic rating for adults 25-54 with a rating of 0.93. NBC took 0.69, CNN 0.61, CBS 0.55 and MSNBC 0.51.

Fox News maintained its usual prime-time reflective shows, commenting on ratings but not showing them in full. It averaged 3.06 million viewers and 0.45 ratings on demo 25-54 from 8am to 10pm. Tucker Carlson tonight s Hanit. Fox News’ top political anchor Brett Bayer led the Fox Business coverage, which averaged 240,000 viewers for two hours.

News coverage aside, ESPN’s broadcast of Game 4 of the NHL Eastern Conference Finals was the best ever in prime time, with 2.48 million viewers. It also topped programming in adults 18-49 (0.82 rating) and 25-54 (0.96).
