X-Men: finally good news for their arrival in the MCU
It’s been a long and speculation-filled wait, but fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) finally have a reason to rejoice. Since Disney’s acquisition of 20th Century Fox in 2019, the future of the X-Men within the MCU remained uncertain. However, according to a recent article in Expiration, Marvel Studios would take a crucial step and start looking for writers to work on integrating the X-Men into the MCU. Note that the article mentions a “new film” that could launch a new saga.
The X-Men film series, which has had its ups and downs under the leadership of 20th Century Fox, needed a new direction, especially after disappointing release of Dark Phoenix in 2019, which only grossed $252 million at the global box office (for a budget of 200 million). Kevin Feige, president of Marvel Studios, has overseen the process since the acquisition, but without providing clear guidance on how the X-Men would be integrated into the MCU.
First appearances expected in 2024
Hints about a possible return of the X-Men have been scattered throughout Marvel productions, particularly in the series Miss Marvelwhere the term “mutant” was mentioned, suggesting the imminent arrival of the famous mutants.
At the same time, Marvel announced X-Men ’97, an animated series inspired by the famous 90s series, which will air in early 2024 on Disney+. There is also the highly anticipated Deadpool 3 (scheduled for May 2024) which will offer an unexpected return of Wolverine, played again by Hugh Jackman.

The announcement of the search for writers for the X-Men project comes at an opportune time, just after the end of the writers’ strike in Hollywood. With the end of this conflict, the industry is ready to move forwardand the integration of the X-Men into the MCU is clearly one of the most anticipated projects by fans.
However, we don’t yet know what form this reboot will take, nor what story arc will be explored in future films.
