The Rolling Stones canceled a show in Amsterdam on Monday, just hours before the start, after frontman Mick Jagger was confirmed to have COVID-19.
The group announced the cancellation in a statement, saying that Jagger, 78, tested positive for “COVID symptoms as soon as he arrived at the stadium” on the outskirts of Amsterdam. No further details about his health were released.
“The Rolling Stones deeply regret this evening’s postponement, but the safety of the audience, musicians and tour group must be a priority,” the statement said, adding that the show would be postponed and tickets for the show at Johan Cruyff in amsterdam. Arena was honored with the new date.
Several fans were already in the stadium when it was announced that the show would be cancelled.
Veteran rockers travel to Europe for a show called SIXTY to celebrate six decades together. His last show was at Liverpool’s Anfield Stadium on 9 June. The next scheduled show will take place in Bern, Switzerland on June 17th.
