Nick Cave, Tastrom’s animated series “Before They Were Gods” by Mans Marlind, Banijai (Exclusive)

Nick Cave gets an animated TV giveaway, but in a slightly unusual way that seems to fit the cult of the Australian rocker.

Thåström is written as a strict, political and succinct existentialist, while Cave is, on the contrary, a Dionysian warrior, agnostic and romantic dreamer who swims with words. It is set in Sweden, but all dialogue is in English.

“This is a dream project that literally occurred to me in a dream,” said Marlind. “I watched in bed with two of my young music heroes drinking cheap beer as they discussed love and the meaning of life. I woke up writing and have been trying to reach them ever since.”

“Since I was never in Sweden in 1971 and didn’t know Tastrom, I’m obviously interested in finding out what we’ve never done,” said Kave.

Thåström added, “I always wanted to be a cartoon character.”

Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds are currently on a 34-day tour of major cities including London, Berlin, Helsinki, Zagreb, Gothenburg and Paris.
