Harry Potter:Warner Bros. face trial
Warner Bros., the production studio behind the famous saga Harry Potteris currently in the spotlight for a less than magical reason: a complaint filed by a mother, Jessica Perry.
According to information transmitted by TMZ, Jessica Perry bought a replica of the magic wand for her children in a supermarket. This object, which at first glance seemed like a simple toy, it also had a light pen function. But what should have been a moment of joy turned into a nightmare.
Reproducing the movements of the magicians we see in the films, Jessica Perry’s eldest son would have accidentally projected the metal part of the pen. The latter would detach itself from the wand, flying across the room to finally reach the eye of its three-year-old brother.
Eight million dollars in damages
The impact was so violent that the young man suffered a “broken eyeball”. Two surgeries would be needed to try to save his eye. Jessica Perry claims the wand was defective. He even claims that Warner Bros. should have been informed of the risksciting an online comment discussing a similar incident.
Beyond the physical pain, the psychological consequences of this accident would also be devastating for the boy. He allegedly was forced to use extremely painful eye drops and wear an eye patch that scared him so much that he could only sleep with the lights on.
Faced with this situation, Jessica Perry, determined to obtain justice for her son, would have asked Warner Bros. for the sum of eight million dollars in damages. She would like this case to serve as a warning to other parents and highlight the potential dangers of some toys.
Warner Bros., for its part, has not yet released an official response to these allegations.
