The Silver Venus: Apple makes its cinema debut
We have known Claire Pommet more under the pseudonym Pomme since the release of her first EP Runaway in 2016. Since then, the singer-songwriter has released three albums between 2017 and 2022, and was crowned several times at the Victoires de la Musique.
As well as being one of the most prolific and exciting artists on the current French music scene, Pomme has also ventured into the world of cinema. In fact, he plays the main role in the film The Silver Venusdirected by Héléna Klotz, which will be released on our screens on November 22nd.
For this first foray onto the big screen, she puts herself in the shoes of Jeanne Francoeur, 24 years old, who lives in a suburban barracks with her policeman father, little brother and sister. Driven by a burning desire for independence, Jeanne is determined to make her way in the cutthroat world of finance, a male-dominated field. It is during this search that he meets Farès, played by Sofiane Zermani, an accomplished musician who has transitioned brilliantly to cinema. Under her protective wing, Jeanne prepares to navigate this complex world, trying to define her own path.
The rest of the cast The Silver Venus it is composed in particular of Niels Schneider, who plays a former acquaintance of Jeanne Francoeur, and Anna Mouglalis, in the role of a powerful businesswoman, who fascinates her.
In addition to playing the leading role, Apple also participated in the creation of the film’s soundtrack. In the first trailer revealed today we can also hear her voice.
Towards a first César nomination for Apple?
Pomme is not the first French musical artist to make a foray into the world of cinema. And we know it: the Caesars love it. We remember that Louane Emera won the statuette as best promising female in 2015 for her role in The Aries Familyand Camélia Jordana won the same award in 2018 for her performance in The Brio. It’s hard to understand how Apple could escape a nomination in this category, and why not win it.
