The World After Us: What is this Netflix movie?
Expected on December 8th on Netflix, The world after us is a mystery thriller directed by Sam Esmail, the creator of the series Mr. Robot. Adapted from Rumaan Alam’s best-selling novel of the same name, the film is set in the present day and features a couple from New York, who decides, on a whim, to take a few days away from the hustle and bustle of the city, with their two teenage children. They rent a beautiful villa in the forest to relax.
But their rest is short-lived when strange events begin to occur, such as a huge ocean liner running aground, for no apparent reason, on the beach where they are. And things take off a truly disturbing twist when one evening, a man and his daughter ring the doorbell, telling them that they are the owners of that villa, and that a cyber attack is taking place in the village. This situation forces the six people to live together, but the tenants don’t know if they can trust their hosts, especially since all means of communication have been cut off.
A five star cast
Julia Roberts and Ethan Hawke play the New York couple who find themselves having to share their vacation home. Mahershala Ali and Myha’la Herrold were chosen as owners. There is also Kevin Bacon, in a role still kept secret.
The trailer of the film The world after us presented today by Netflix announces a compelling and above all very mysterious film, which promises to make subscribers’ heads spin (like this thriller which is currently a success on the platform).
