Matthew Perry played Chandler Bing for all ten seasons of ‘Friends’
Matthew Perry revealed that he was unable to watch Friends due to drug and alcohol abuse. Chandler Bing’s interpreter said in an interview with Q with Tom Power (via People), in November 2022, which could distinguish the stage of addiction experienced in each season of the series.
“I haven’t watched the series and I don’t plan to watch it because I could end up drinking… opioids… cocaine. As if I could tell season to season based on my appearance,” said the actor. “And I don’t think anyone else could see it, but I could. And that’s why I don’t want to watch it, because that’s what I see, that’s what I notice when I watch it.”
Addiction
Perry He had to deal with addiction and, between 1997 and 2001, sought treatment. He doesn’t remember filming between the third and sixth seasons, he told BBC Radio 2 in 2016 (via People).
