Love Actually celebrates its 20th anniversary
In December 2003, director Richard Curtis brought the film to the world Current love, which would become one of cinema’s most cult romantic comedies. Set in London, as the end-of-year holidays approach, the film follows the romantic adventures and tribulations of several characters whose lives intertwine.
The film begins with a scene at the airport, where a stream of people find themselves hugging each other, a setting that foreshadows the film’s central theme: love in all its forms. From the budding love story between the British Prime Minister, played with charm and clumsiness by Hugh Grant, and his young colleague Natalie, to the complex relationship between Karen (Emma Thompson) and her husband Harry (Alan Rickman), Current love explores the nuances of marital, familial and unrequited love.
Among the most powerful stories is that of Daniel (Liam Neeson), who tries to overcome the loss of his wife while helping his stepson Sam win the heart of his classmate. There’s also Jamie’s (Colin Firth) search for true love, who, after being betrayed by his girlfriend, finds an unexpected bond with Aurélia, his Portuguese housekeeper, despite the language barrier.
And it returns in a new version
On the occasion of its 20th anniversary, Current lovethe beloved holiday film returns to theaters in a remastered 4K version, offering a new opportunity to immerse yourself in its rich and exciting world.
The new 4K restored edition was created from the original 35mm negative, with digital restoration work carried out by Silver Salt Restoration in London. The film was classified for the first time in HDR (High Dynamic Range) in Dolby Vision, under the direction of Richard Curtis itself, ensuring that the picture and sound are more perfect than ever.
In addition to the theatrical release, the film will be available on UHD, Blu-ray & DVD and digital edition, accompanied by an exclusive 30-minute bonus. This add-on offers a behind-the-scenes look with interviews with the cast and crew, who share their memories of filming and discuss the evolution and legacy of Current love two decades after its initial release.
