The 6th and final season of the series premieres on Netflix on November 16th

In the first part of the sixth and final season of The Crowna series about the life of the British royal family, the focus will be on the last days of the princess’ life Dianaplayed by the actress Elizabeth Debicki (Guardians of the Galaxy: Volume 3).

The episodes will cover Lady Di’s problems with the royal family, her relationship with Dodi Fayedthe paparazzi chase, the car accident, and, finally, the repercussion of the tragedy on the reign of Elizabeth II (Imelda Staunton, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix). For Debicki, recording the sequences was “completely unbearable”:

“At some moments, I didn’t even need to act. I just had an animalistic reaction to that crowd around me, those actors who were playing the journalists, because I felt persecuted and cornered. You don’t need to be in that situation for more than a minute to realize that it’s completely unbearable”commented Debicki in a statement released by Netflix [via Variety].

The actress also stated that, despite all the sadness surrounding the final days of the People’s Princess, she tried to bring “joy, lightness and fun” in the scenes preceding the tragedy: “That was the part of the story that I felt I could control, in a way, and that became my focus”, said Debicki.

The last season of The Crown will be divided into two parts. While the first premieres on November 16, 2023, the second arrives a month later, in December 14, 2023. In the final episodes, we will follow the prince William (Ed McVey) returning to normal life at Eton after the death of his mother, while the monarchy must deal with popular opinion over Diana’s tragedy.

The six episodes will also show the Queen Elizabeth II dealing with the proximity of his Golden Jubilee – the 50th anniversary of his coronation -, the future of the English monarchy with the marriage between Prince Charles (Dominic West) It is Camilla Parker (Olivia Williams), and the birth of romance between prince Harry (Luther Ford) It is Kate Middleton (Meg Bellamy).
