After being cut from Guardians of the Galaxy 2, Marvel’s Wonder Man is putting together a creative team for a new TV show (but what about Nathan Fillion?)

The creative minds of the MCU have made efforts in the past to try and fit Wonder Man into their universe, and after a few failed attempts, it looks like Marvel Studios may be ready to pull the trigger. A director and writer would be in place for a possible Wonder Man series, and they’re a pretty talented couple. But incredible as it may seem, what it means to Nathan Fillion, the actor who was once cast for the role Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2?

Word is Marvel has recruited Destin Daniel Cretton (director of Shang-Chi and the legend of the ten rings) and Andrew Guest (writer in Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Community) to create a live-action series for Wonder Man, one of the oldest heroes of the monolith comic. THR also reported that Cretton, is developing a sequel to Shan Chi , will serve as executive producer and eventually director. As for Guest, who he worked as a consultant producer for Hawk eye, will act as editor. The potential series is said to be still in the early stages of development, but if Marvel moves forward with the project, filming could begin in 2023.

It’s unclear who might play Wonder Man, aka Simon Williams, but as previously mentioned, it was a role originally cast by the MCU for Nathan Fillion. Giacomo Gunn attempted to incorporate Fillion in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 like Wonder Man, and Kevin Feige and others have even signed up to do so.

Unfortunately, James Gunn found it difficult to incorporate Nathan Fillion’s Wonder Man into the film in a way that matched the tone and timing. Gunn eventually came to an attempt to compromise with a scene that took place on Earth that featured easter egg movie poster with Simon Williams de Fillion in several films. Eventually, the scene was thought to slow down the film and was abandoned, completely obliterating any canonical evidence of Fillion as Wonder Man. finally bringing Fillion into a superhero movie later with the native DC suicide squad, so if it’s not in the cards for him to be in the MCU, at least it happened.

The internet has speculated that Wonder Man may be heading for the MCU Vision of Wanda when an image of the character appeared in a behind-the-scenes shoot of the original Disney +. publisher of Vision of Wanda Jac Schaeffer recorded entertainment tonight denying it meant more than just being one of the “many things” that were posted on the wall in the writers’ room. Wonder Man obviously couldn’t be Vision of Wandabut thanks to this upcoming project, there is a chance that Marvel fans will see it on TV soon.

A Wonder Man series is in the works and could possibly be added to the growing list of Disney + programs on the streamer if it receives a green light. We hope to receive more updates on what will happen in the coming months and perhaps even a casting announcement if the project is officially commissioned.
