Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood returns to Netflix
For almost three years, Netflix subscribers have been able to watch and rewatch the excellent anime Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. But after March 31, 2020, the animated series was out of the catalog. For a while it was therefore impossible to watch the anime without having the DVDs. At least, until today. Because after three years of absence, the series returns to the platform with the red logo from November 15, 2023. And that’s great news!
There was originally an excellent manga by Hiromu Arakawa and published between 2001 and 2010. From there, a first anime adaptation I was born : Fullmetal Alchemist. However, having been broadcast during the publication of the manga, from 2003 to 2007, the work was big differences with the paper version (even if the beginning is near). A proposal that remains interesting, which we also greatly appreciate for the emotion it causes, but which still leaves us with the desire to know more when we get to know the manga. It was then in 2009 that Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood was launched, this time following faithfully the original scenario. And the result obviously delighted many viewers marked by this rich and moving anime.
An exciting manga and anime
The story of Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood follows two brothers, Edward and Alphonse Elric. One has lost an arm and a leg, while the second has only his conscience sealed in the armor. The reason is nothing short of tragic. When they were younger, the two boys tried to bring their mother back to life using Alchemy and following the fundamental law of equivalent exchange. Unfortunately, they didn’t get what they wanted. However, they maintain the hope of finding their bodies thanks to the philosopher’s Stonea mythical item that should allow you to use Alchemy without respecting the equivalent exchange, and therefore get everything you want.

The very basis of the scenario is quite challenging. And even if the tone sometimes seems joyful, the condition of the two young boys is often subject to emotion. Furthermore, the characters they encounter are not all spared. Those who know Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood I haven’t forgotten Colonel Mustang’s tearsthe flame alchemist, an important ally of the two brothers.
Finally, it is worth underlining that the scenario goes beyond the search for the Elric brothers. The stakes are higher throughout the anime, involving conflicts between countries, discrimination and massacre of an entire population (the Ishbal), a man’s revenge (Scar) and the dark plan of strange creatures who pull the strings (the Homunculi). The latter are also as disturbing as they are attractive Lustfemme fatale, ruthless, who we particularly like.

Clear, Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood it is unmissable. An anime by 64 episodes considered one of the best and still extremely popular more than ten years after its original broadcast. We therefore invite you to review the series on Netflix. Additionally, for subscribers to the ADN platform, the anime is available there from November 13th.
