Napoleon: the new historical fresco by Ridley Scott

Much awaited by spectators, Napoleon, the historical biopic directed by Ridley Scott, has finally arrived in French cinemas this Wednesday 22 November. Directed by Joaquin Phoenix, the film focuses on the story of the rise and fall of the French emperor. This biopic particularly focuses on his lust for power, as well as hers troubled relationship with Joséphine, the love of his life (played by Vanessa Kirby). Impressive battle scenes, illustrating Napoleon’s military genius, were brought to the screen by Ridley Scott (and the result lived up to expectations). After The last duelreleased two years ago, it is therefore once again French history that inspires Ridley Scott.

Ludivine Sagnier cut during editing, she reacts

If you went to see Napoléon at the cinema, and stayed until the end credits, you will have noticed that Ludivine Sagnier’s name appears on the screen. However, she does not appear at any point in the film. If she had actually landed a role in the film, all of her scenes would have been cut during editing. But contractually her name had to appear in the credits, even if she didn’t appear in the final cut.

Following comments from numerous viewers, the actress reacted on his Instagram accountspecifying that it was not included in the “short version” of Napoleon, but the film was worth checking out. If you’re talking about the “short version” is that there is a long version of Ridley Scott’s feature film, and which should soon be put online on Apple TV+. Lasting four and a half hours, it should delve deeper into the themes of the film, in particular Joséphine’s journey, and introduce other characters, including that of Madame Tallien, played by Ludivine Sagnier. She is an influential woman, who worked during the French Revolution and rejected the advances of Napoleon Bonaparte.
