Returning in force for Godzilla
And if the best film Godzilla hasn’t been an American blockbuster of recent years? The famous monster, an emblematic figure of Japanese culture, has appeared in several dozen films since the 1950s. He also realized the heyday of the Tōhō studio. But in recent years Hollywood has become very interested in the giant monster. In particular there was the Godzilla (2014) by Gareth Edwards to start the MonsterVerse by Warner Bros. This then gave rise to a sequel, Godzilla 2: King of the Monsters (2019) e Godzilla vs. Kong (2021) while Godzilla x Kong is scheduled for 2024.
But in JapanGodzilla has not been forgotten either, with four films (three of which animated) released in the Land of the Rising Sun between 2016 and 2019. The next one coming is titled Godzilla minus onedirected by Takashi Yamazaki with a budget of 15 million dollars, and the hype around it continued to grow for several weeks.

The first one returns Godzilla minus one in fact they are very positive. As we write these lines, the feature film is being displayed an almost perfect score ON Rotten tomatoes with 96% for the press (based on 50 reviews) e 97% for the public (an average based on more than 250 ratings). Or, as indicated Screenrantone of the best soundtracks for a Godzilla film: “The second highest rating of all time, behind only Godzilla vs. Destroy Ah (1995)“. Which is well above American productions – 76% per Godzilla vs. Kong and 42% for Godzilla 2: King of the Monsters.
In the program of Godzilla minus one
The American media explains these excellent returns with this Godzilla minus one would be a less sanitized version compared to American films, e more realistic. The film is set in 1947, immediately after the Second World War. And when the world has just recovered from this dark period, Godzilla appears and begins to spread terror in Japan.
Already from the tone the film promises to be much harsher, necessarily referring to the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. And it’s probably not for nothing that a limited version is available Godzilla minus one it has been shown in French cinemas.
