Sydney Sweeney, among others, saw her character Casey develop emotionally in the second season of the HBO hit. ფIphoria. From the start of a secret relationship with her best friend, Maddie’s ex-boyfriend Nate (Jacob Elord), to the chaotic end of Maddie’s birthday, Casey is front and center this season, and when she fights her inside. hell, he has a wonderful memory. Moments that swept the internet. Sweeney speaks THR On Kess Sinking into the Darkest Places and the other hilarious HBO show she starred in this season, white lotus
how was this season ფIphoria Different for you from the first?
They really gave me a lot more space so I could explore Kess, Kess’ relationships, her relationship with herself, her mind, her emotions. I just needed more to be able to play.
What was your most challenging scene this season?
I feel like I’m personally blossoming and enjoying the scenes of Kess’s very complex emotional pull. And what pissed me off the most was in the hot shower with all the girls and Nate, because I actually had to hold this tube in my mouth, which was soaking wet from a fake swipe. And I had to hold it in my mouth because my mouth was full of God knows what and I was acting like it was nothing. I’m a very charming eater, so random things came into my mouth and I know that was the hardest part.
Your character will find himself in dark times this season. How do you get to this place?
I created a very safe bridge to becoming my own characters, where I create books of these characters that allow me to completely lose myself like Sydney. I don’t really need to do any process or think about anything other than the task I put on Kess, because I can live it in the moment. No matter what you say to Kesi, no matter what happens to Kesi, there really is a reaction in that moment. They’re not premeditated, it’s just Casey reacting naturally to something. Since they call it cutting, I can jump to Sydney and be completely separate from everything. It would be really hard if I had to think about what Casey had to go through because she had a lot of emotional and difficult scenes. Easy to jump and skip really saved common sense.

Can you talk more about these books?
Basically, this is the whole life of my character in the book, and I fill in any gaps that might not be in the script. I believe everyone knows how this was triggered by some moment that happened in his life. We are all who we are because of our memories and the moments that happened during our lifetime. I may react organically, but this person does so because there is life behind it. I do this for each character.
How long does it take?
How long have I been there! For Casey, because we had to wait to find out if he cast us in Season 1 and then we had such a huge gap between Season 1 and Season 2, I had a good time being able to work on that.
Is that what came to you organically?
He was. When I was little I had all these friends and imaginary worlds and I love creating things. I’m an arts and crafts man, Michaels is my paradise. When I auditioned, I couldn’t understand that all these current coaches wanted to do a rehearsal and not coach people. I always felt like it wasn’t natural or organic, so I started doing my own thing. Too much work. I get stressed and half the time my mom is like, “Do it yourself” and I’m like, “But this is a craft!”
How do your stars support each other as they cross a tense arc?
We have a very strong brother on set. We all experience this together and spend a lot of time together. We all became friends. Basically, it feels like night parties every day. We go back to our trailers and turn around, watch TV or casual videos; we really swam and parted.
A few months ago you talked about having a voice and what you like to film, especially nude scenes. What did you learn from this experience about where your personal boundaries lie?
I always felt that there are necessary moments [in which] Casey only knows how to communicate through her body. I’ve always wanted to make sure that whatever is used sexually through Kess really drives the story forward. Sam [Levinson, showrunner] He does a wonderful job of conveying who he is through the public eye and through Nate’s eyes to Kess, or Kess’s own sexuality. And having an intimate relations coordinator on set is unthinkable. This is another person who is his lawyer and is very technical. It really isn’t sexy. But I never said that any scene was superfluous, everything was taken out of context. Sam is amazing, but he never forces us and he doesn’t force us to discuss anything about it. I could call Sam and say, “Hey, I don’t want to do this again,” and he’d say, “Okay.”
At the end of last season, information was released about how Sam manages his set. What was his opinion on that?
It takes many hours and people to assemble it. It’s really not normal 9 to 5 and if you wait for it you will get kicked out. A lot of work, but we were very lucky. ფIphoria It touched the lives of so many people and shows the hours and hard work that everyone puts in.
Is it true that you felt like a pigeon after this role?
Casey is a sexy character and she became a shape then. [forced] On me as a person instead of Kes. I could see them say, “Oh, she got it just because she showed her tits.” I’ve had several shows and movies before. ფIphoria. I look very different in everything I do because I want to be an individual character and I don’t want people to associate Sydney Swin with a character; I want you to fully feel that you are experiencing another world and another person. People didn’t connect with him a few months ago, I did. fairy tale craftsOr was it before everything is sad. and i did it a month ago sharp objects And when people started walking and then looking white lotusI think it ended up being the case for everyone. You see these amazing male actors playing the coolest and most diverse characters, and people are just like, “Oh, great.” Nobody puts any kind of stigma behind it.

how he collided with his role white lotus?
We were supposed to start filming on March 15 or 18, 2020, but literally the day before it closed due to COVID and they said, “Let’s take a two week break and everything will calm down. Down”, and two weeks later it turned into another five months, eight months and a full year later. In the middle of that, around the summer, there was a show called white lotus. My team found out and saw that they were holding hearings. I made a tape of my mom, she called me and I met Mike White on Zoom. I was so blessed and honored to work at such a difficult time and in such a safe environment, and was incredibly surrounded by some of the best comedians you could ever be a part of. I was always afraid of comedy because I never knew if I could do it. If something scares me, it means I will challenge myself to do what is not inherent to me as a human being. Being there and learning from everyone, building and raising Olivia… It was a great, wonderful experience.
Do you see any similarities between Olivia and Kess?
No, I think Casey would be afraid of Olivia and Olivia would hate Casey.
What was your favorite scene to film?
Whenever we could do family dinner or breakfast scenes and sit at every table and Murray [Bartlett] walked. You really felt the energy in the dynamic that Mike was building.
What was your hardest part?
I’ve never smoked Bong before. I had no idea how to do this. He used to say, “I look stupid!” This is one of the times every crew member is like, “This is how I Do it! “It was hard not to cough, but I ended up laughing and we carried on.
You have lady webb Get closer. What attracted you?
Oh my God. I grew up watching Marvel movies and superheroes are the best there is. So he only dreamed of being something bigger than life itself. And that’s what I feel I’m going to be a part of. Mrs Webb.
