“Rizz” beat “swiftie” and was named word of the year by the Oxford dictionary; know the meaning

OUP (Oxford University Press) chose, with the help of the public, this Monday, 4th, “rizz” as the word of the year: “referring to someone’s ability to attract another person through style, charm or attractiveness, this term comes from the middle part of the word ‘charisma’ [caRIZZma]which is an unusual pattern of word formation.”

The peak in the use of the word occurred in June, when Tom Holland stated: “I don’t have any rizz. I have limited rizz”, in an interview with BuzzFeed (via NME). It was Kai CenatYouTuber and streamer, however, who popularized the term, still in 2022.

Find out which words were finalists, but were beaten by “rizz”:

Prompt: “instruction given to an artificial intelligence program, algorithm, etc., that determines or influences the content it generates.”

Situationship: “a romantic or sexual relationship that is not considered formal or stabilized.”

Swiftie: “an enthusiastic fan of the singer Taylor Swift“.
