With over 200 episodes, X files he proposed a multitude of scenarios and knew how to vary genres. Because beyond the science fiction aspect, the series is about conspiracies and horrible phenomena. Which didn’t stop the show from showing a certain lightness at times.

For years, it wasn’t just Mulder and Scully trying solve mysteries. In fact, fans were stuck for a long time on a detail from an episode ofX files : a song not found. More precisely, the one from episode 5 of the sixth season, which is heard in a bar. This country music has obviously been sought after by many fans, as attested by one X (formerly Twitter) user who just offered a fun and fascinating thread on the topic that went viral.

An investigation was carried out on

The internet user says that he really liked this song and that he wanted to find it again. Unfortunately, even with the Shazam application or typing lyrics on the Internet, it is impossible to obtain them. A crazy investigation then follows and a cross-check of information between different Internet users. Because as demonstrated by his capture of a post on IMDB, she’s not the only one looking for this song. And so on Redditthere are even those who claim to have been looking for this piece since the episode first aired, in 1998!

So the hypothesis of a piece composed exclusively for the episode comes first. But there’s no point stopping there @laurenancona who first looked for Jeff Charbonneau, credited as the episode’s music editor. If we don’t have the name of the music supervisor, he may have information. Then comes the response from the famous “Jeff”, via Rob Cairns, composer in particular of Love, death and robots.

According to Jeff Charbonneau it would not be music composed just for the episode, but a real song, probably present on”a CD that would not have been accessible to the public, much less digitized for today’s streaming“. Unfortunately the music publisher has no further information…

Professionals get involved

But it won’t be long before someone else finds him a new clue to continue the investigation, after having searched the cue sheetthe editing sheet which contains the details of the music used so that SACEM (for France) can then pay the royalties to those entitled.

The noose tightens around the last two names, until Jonathan Leahy, music supervisor (among others the Hon Mr. Robot), does not intervene in turn. Then he confirms that it is indeed a song written by Glenn Jordan and Dan Marfisi It is entitled Staring at the stars. According to him, the recording was never released commercially. But seeing these fans’ enthusiasm for their music, perhaps they will decide to make their song accessible.
