It’s been sixteen years since fans said goodbye to Point Place, Wisconsin, but Netflix is back with a spinoff of That show from the 70s. The long-awaited spin-off, called That ’90s show, will follow Eric and Donna’s daughter who spends the summer with her grandparents, Red and Kitty, in the fictional town of Badger State. With the return of the original cast members, she was bound to be emotional on set, and Laura Prepon recently shared details about it.
Laura Prepon played Donna Pinciotti in the eight seasons of the Fox series and the occasional girlfriend of Eric Forman (Topher Grace). With the new series focusing on her son, it’s safe to say that Eric and Donna are better than ever. We will know for sure when That ’90s show drops. Prepon discussed her return as Donna with us weekly and he even admitted he cried on his first day of shooting:
It’s so funny. They are all the same sets. The first time I went there, I cried. I say: “The nostalgia is so strong and it was such an extraordinary period of my life”. Can’t wait for people to see it. I think they will really, really appreciate it.
fans have seen how are the sets, thanks to a few Instagram posts by Kurtwood Smith and Debra Jo Rupp after filming began, and it looks like not much has changed at the Forman home. It makes sense that Laura Prepon was very excited about Blast From The Past!
And her feelings about the Netflix series should allay some concerns fans might have. When the spin-off was first announced, it already sounded better than That 80’s show, which aired for a season on Fox and really had no connection whatsoever to its predecessor. Since the members of the That show from the 70s The cast will return for That ’90s showIt’s sure to be a nostalgia-filled series with completely untold stories.
Laura Prepon isn’t the only OG star to have thought back to the early days recently. Mila Kunis explained what shooting the series finale was like That show from the 70s it was like alone last month, noting how “bittersweet” it was. She will also return along with her real husband Ashton Kutcher and NCISWilmer Valderrama, who even celebrated the new series with an A + image.
One notable absence from the series is Danny Masterson, who played Steven Hyde. The actor was charged with sexual assault in 2018 and, as a result, was fired from another Netflix sitcom (which actually shared Ashton Kutcher), so viewers likely won’t see him returning to Point Place. However, after That ’90s show was announced, he expressed his enthusiasm for Kurtwood Smith and Debra Jo Rupp, noting that he “can’t wait to watch and laugh”.
At the moment, no release date has been set That ’90s showalthough with filming currently underway, hopefully it won’t take much longer. Although its predecessor isn’t currently streaming anywhere with a subscription, it may return to Netflix before the spinoff drops so fans can start watching it again. In the meantime, check out the other shows coming to Netflix!
