Limitless makes a notable debut on Netflix
Published in 2011, Without limits is a gripping thriller that explores the infinite possibilities of the human mind. This film, directed by Neil Burger, stars Bradley Cooper as Eddie Morra, an uninspired writer on the verge of failure. His life takes a radical turn when he discovers NZT-48, a revolutionary pill which allows him to use 100% of his brain capacity.
Blessed with a keen intelligence and a phenomenal memory, Eddie embarks on a meteoric rise, attracting the attention of powerful financiers, most notably played by Robert De Niro. However, this extraordinary power comes with dangerous consequences, catapulting Eddie into a world where wealth and success collide with complex moral choices and unexpected threats.
Even though it was published more than ten years ago, Without limits it rose straight to second place among the most watched films on Netflix, right behind The world after us. Proof that even films released a long time ago still arouse the interest of viewers. The presence of a first-rate cast certainly has something to do with it.
TO global box office, Without limits had been a great success with almost $162 million in revenue, for a minimum budget of $27 million.
A scenario reminiscent of another success
The step of Without limits remember another big box office hit with a heroine: Lucia by Luc Besson. In fact, in the latter released in 2014, the protagonist played by Scarlett Johansson inadvertently ingests an experimental drug, called CPH4, which colonizes her brain cells, to reach 100% brain potential. At the end of the film, she transcends space and time to become an omnipotent entity. Which is obviously not the case Without limits.
In 2015, a series adapted from the film starring Bradley Cooper was released, with Jake McDorman in the role of Brian Finch, who discovers, years after Eddie Morra, the power of the drug NZT. He is forced to collaborate with the FBI to solve complex criminal investigations. In France, the series was broadcast on M6.
