Two stars for The best of enemies
It’s the holiday season and, logically, the shopping season, and it’s the same in Hollywood where Amazon and its subsidiary MGM have just acquired the rights to a spy thriller, following an auction in which Warner Bros. It is announced that the two actors will play two real secret agents, Gennady Vasilenko (Christian Bale) of the KGB and Jack Platt (Bradley Cooper) of the CIA, who developed an unlikely but strong friendship during the Cold War, starting in 1978, and remained so until Jack Platt’s death in January 2017.
The precise amount of the deal was not disclosed, but according to Deadline it could be the largest “pitch deal” of the year, highlighting the check of around $5 million signed to screenwriter Eric Warren Singer to write the film. He has already announced that the film will be released in cinemas.
