Ben Stiller visits Poland with UNHCR in support of Ukrainian refugees: “Everyone has the right to seek safety”

Ben Stiller joined the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees to learn about and strengthen support for refugees fleeing Ukraine amid the Russian invasion of the country.

In an Instagram post on Saturday, the Severance director shared that he is currently in Poland, where he works with the agency. “I recently arrived in Poland with UNHCR to meet families whose lives have been ravaged by war and violence in Ukraine,” he wrote. “Millions are forced from their homes, more than 90% are women and children.

On the back of his brief social post, the actor-producer described the trip as an opportunity to learn and share stories about the aftermath of the war, and seems to indicate that he will have more social updates while in the country.

“I’m here to learn, share stories that reflect the human impact of war, and strengthen the call for solidarity,” he said. “I hope you will continue to share your messages of support for people who have left their homes in Ukraine and people who have been forced to flee around the world.”

Stiller ended the message with a simple yet powerful comment: “Everyone has the right to seek safety. Whoever you are, wherever you are, anytime. ”

It is now among industry groups that have used its platform for the war, which began in late February, and to draw attention to the various humanitarian crises in and around Ukraine. Angelina Jolie visited the city of Lviv in April, where she met with a UNHCR special representative and spoke to refugees displaced by war at a train station.

Sean Penn, who was in the country to film a documentary about the Russian invasion, has been in direct contact with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky for months and has repeatedly endorsed US support for the country. And Ukrainian-American actress Mila Kunis and her husband Ashton Kutcher have raised more than $36 million through the GoFundMe campaign, both launched to support refugees and humanitarian aid in the country.
