The actors got close when they were filming Friends and ER, but they met a few years before that.
Iconic interpreter of Chandler Bing in Friends, Matthew Perry he died at the age of 54 on October 28, 2023 and since then, several celebrities have brought back important memories alongside the actor. George Clooneycolleague with whom he shared the studio corridors Warner Bros.., said the 1994 sitcom “never made the actor happy.”
In an interview with deadline, Clooney remembered his friendship with Perry. The two became close when they were filming Friends It is ER: Medical Dutybut they met a few years before that.
“We used to play tennis together, and he was about 10 years younger than me. He was a very good boy, absurdly funny,” he commented. Clooney. “Before I was even cast in Friends, he told me that he really wanted a role in a sitcom. He said it would make him the happiest man on the planet.”
He went into what is probably the best sitcom of all time, but he wasn’t happy. He couldn’t see how Friends gave him happiness, joy or peace.”
“At that time, it was painful to be close to him, because I had no idea what was going on. I knew he was unhappy, but I didn’t know about the whole drug issue, the things he said years later,” the actor continued. “I think his story tells us that success and money, all those things, don’t automatically make you happy. You need to be happy with your life and with yourself.”
