Kevin Hart as an art thief
Kevin Hart is one of the personalities that generally attracts people to Netflix. The actor has several of his one-man shows in the platform’s catalog and has made a number of feature films for the streaming service. We saw it later in An exceptional dad (2021), The man from Toronto (2022) e I time (2022). Here it is again in early 2024 with During the flighta heist film by F. Gary Gray.
In it, Kevin Hart plays Cyrus, a thief specializing in works of art, and who steals to prevent these works from falling into the wrong hands. Monitored by the FBI, and more precisely by Abby (Gugu Mbatha-Raw), his ex-girlfriend, he manages to perform a stroke of genius during an auction in Venice. The government department decides to task him with intercepting half a billion dollars in gold, which will be used to finance terrorist attacks. In exchange, Cyrus and his team will be granted immunity and will avoid prison. There remains a small difficulty in the operation: the break must be taken mid-flight, on the plane that will transport the gold. There is only one solution, therefore, to steal the device directly.
What it’s worth During the flight
In the casting ofDuring the flight, we find other faces well known to Netflix subscribers. Like Vincent D’Onofrio from the series Reckless (before leaving the platform), Ursula Corbero From The Paper House AND Devoured by flames. Billy Magnussen who attended ManiacOR Jean Reno(season 3 of Who killed Sarah?). Jacob Batalon, Sam Worthington, Viveik Kalra, Kim Yun-jee, Burn Gorman, Paul Anderson and David Proud round out the cast.
During the flight therefore on paper it has all the ingredients of an effective and entertaining heist film. But the movie did not convince much of the American press. It is our time that is truly being stolen from us here“, While Variety intends to be more lenient, at least towards casting:”While the actors are good, their roles are too poorly written to be anything more than cogs in a not-so-well-oiled machine.“.
