Attention! The following contains spoilers for the flash Season 8 Episode “Negative Part 1”. Read at your own risk!
the flash only one episode is missing from the end of season 8, and I’m not sure I was more confused by this series than by “Negative, Part 1”. The CW drama just delivered a more nerve-wracking hour than WTF television, with major implications after… whatever… happened. And that’s saying something for a season that unceremoniously killed Killer Frost Yes I use a Robbie Amell place for guests for that to happen. fortunately star Tom Cavanagh has some comforting words for fans who are very confused after the penultimate episode, which basically goes back to “whoever saw it”.
WTF part one: Iris is dead
“Negative, Part 1” was known to be the first episode of a two-part season 8 finale. I was expecting a cliffhanger, but nothing prepared me for the unpredictable final moments that really changed everything this season. What Barry was about to punish the opponent Yet, ForceYes wise force avatar with devastating lightning bolts at the end of the episode, a time traveling Iris suddenly appeared before the death ray and absorbed the entire impact. Barry ran alongside her, but apparently it was too late to do anything. Iris was dead (again, from the Arrowverse) and it doesn’t look like she’s coming back. This alone was enough to provoke fan reactions:
I am traumatized by #TheFlash pic.twitter.com/WkTrFjdKZAJune 23, 2022
But then things went from traumatic to impenetrable shortly after his death, in a move that only The Flash could do.
WTF Part 2: Ghost Particle Iris on both Thawnes
When Iris explodes into green particles, just like the ones seen when Deon uses Still Force. These particles are then flown to Matt Letscheris a good version of Eobard Thawne, who voluntarily received negative particles from the Speed Force at the beginning of the episode to help Barry in the fight. Everything is fine, right? Obviously not.
It didn’t look like a ghost particle at all that Iris helped calm Letscher’s Thawne, who let out a chilling scream as he absorbed everything. She then proceeded to rip off his face, eventually revealing Tom Cavanagh’s Eobard Thawne beneath her, like a stackable metahuman doll. I was surprised, to say the least, and I was far from the only one Glow the fan feels like this:
This has to be 100% of the top 3 CRAZY endings for a Flash episode. WTF. Crazy #TheFlash pic.twitter.com/WzHlHQUK7NJune 23, 2022
the flash The ending of the episode was particularly confusing as we literally saw Deon destroy Tom Cavanagh’s Thawne in a disgusting carcass at the beginning of the episode. And unless I missed something, he didn’t suddenly tear off his face to reveal a completely different character.
Tom Cavanagh says don’t worry
I have absolutely no idea what’s going on, but I hope all this confusion comes to light, if Tom Cavanagh is to be believed. The actor spoke with television line, whose very confusion raised a question of what really happened there, and while he obviously didn’t dive into super spoilers, he said it would all make sense in the end. In his words:
Do I know what was going on? Of course. Yes, I know what was going on. I won’t tell you because I have WB snipers on the roof all around me. Everything is as I said, there are 10 steps ahead and everything is planned and it makes sense when you watch the next episode.
Tom Cavanagh is convinced that maybe the flashThe craziest twist ever will make sense when the Season 8 finale arrives. I certainly hope so, because I’d hate to have to wait another season to find out if Iris is still dead or not, as Thawne of Cavanagh is back (although we knew that the return was inevitable) and what all this had to do with it. with the disease of the time just at the end of this last hour.
Of course, I don’t know if we’ll really learn the answers to all of this, because it all comes down to Cavanagh’s view of things that make sense. So maybe it’s just a matter of having a little faith in the show’s creative team, which hasn’t always been a foolproof plan in the past, but it is.
The Flash season 8 finale will air on The CW Wednesday, June 29 at 8 p.m. ET, with the previous seven seasons available to stream with a Netflix subscription. Waiting for answers and if I need to really cry Iris West-Allen this time.
