Change of direction for Marvel Studios
The MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe) has had its greatest successes with Avengers: Endgame (2019) e Avengers: Infinity War (2018). The two films have grossed more than $2 billion at the global box office ($2.7 billion for Endgame). Impressive figures, that alone Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021) has since come close, with revenue of $1.9 billion. But for some time now, the productions Marvel seems less attractive. While some films have done very solidly, we feel the MCU is struggling to get the machine rolling again. And plans for the future seem more vague.
There was most notably the exit of Bob Iger, CEO of The Walt Disney Company, who admitted that there had been too many pointless sequels. A statement that arises from the failure of The wonders, which became the lowest-grossing film in the MCU. Added to this is the case Jonathan Majors. The actor was the incarnation of Kang and would have a lot of importance in the rest of the MCU, especially with Avengers: The Kang Dynasty. But the actor was found guilty of assault and immediately fired by Marvel Studios, who subsequently retitled the film Avengers 5.
Deadpool 3 save the MCU?
The company therefore decided to take the time necessary to pursue its superhero universe in the best way possible. As demonstrated by this 2024 which promises to be exceptional, since only one MCU film will be released this year: Deadpool 3. A film eagerly awaited by fans who have been asking for a reunion for a long time Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman in their respective roles as Deadpool and Wolverine. Enough to put a lot of pressure on director Shawn Levy.
But the director can at least count on the support of Matthew Vaughn. Remember that the latter was behind the camera X-Men: First Class (2011). And during an intervention on the podcast of BroBible, was very enthusiastic about this project. Without mincing words, the director declared that, in his opinion, “Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman are is going to save the entire MCUHe specifies that he has had precise information on the matter Deadpool 3 and stated that what is being prepared will be “Amazing“.

A good omen if we are to believe Matthew Vaughn, who also described himself as “a true X-Men fan“and who assured that he wanted above all”that the films are as good as they should be“. We want to believe him. Especially since he has no reason to speak the language of wood.
