TikTok is re-releasing yet another movie into theaters
On October 11, 2023, the film was released in theaters Consent. A drama brought forward by Jean-Paul Rouve and Kim Higelin, about the relationship between the pedophile writer Gabriel Matzneff and Vanessa Springora when the latter was a teenager. Two weeks after its release, inconsistency was noted at the French box office as the film saw its theatrical attendance increase significantly. With a 40% increase compared to the first week of release, the feature film was suddenly pushed thanks to TikTok. And it seems that the phenomenon is currently repeating itself thanks to a new trend.
As with Consentviewers decided to film themselves before and after watching the romantic comedy Everything except you. Inside, Sydney Sweeney and Glen Powell they play Bea and Ben, who could have been the perfect couple. But following a misunderstanding, they will hate each other. They will still have to pretend to be together for the duration of the wedding.
A different atmosphere than for Consentsince in these videos of the moment we can see the audience going out in joy, jumping to the rhythm of the song Unwritten by Natasha Bedingfield. The 2004 pop song, used at the end of the film, is experiencing a resurgence thanks to this. This new trend was initially launched in the United States, and then also hit French internet users.

Strong increase in attendance for Everything except you
After a less than stellar first week of activity for Sony Pictures Entertainment France, Everything except you has accumulated just under 100,000 entries, with an average of 17 spectators per session. What remains superior to the film The challenge with Jennifer Lawrence, which attracted only 54,000 spectators between 21 and 28 June 2023. But while a normal drop in attendance could have been expected, the opposite is starting to happen with an increase of +45%. This is a very atypical curve for this type of film, as noted by Alexis Mas, founder of the distribution company Condor.
It will therefore be necessary to monitor the data Everything except you in the next few days to see if the TikTok trend it benefits the film over time. However, the romantic comedy can already be considered a success since with an estimated budget of 25 million dollars, the feature film has so far grossed more than 128 million dollars worldwide, of which 72 million after six weeks of activity.
