Disney makes big announcements
During a conference held by Bob Iger, CEO of The Walt Disney Company, this Wednesday, February 7, important announcements were made about the studio’s future projects. The first big surprise was the announcement of Moana 2, the sequel to the animated film released in 2016which will arrive on our screens next November.
And as for the sequel, Disney fans were spoiled as Bob Iger also revealed the release dates for two highly anticipated films: Story of toys 5 AND Frozen 3.
The year 2026 is going to be crazy
Announced just a year ago, Story of toys 5 AND Frozen 3 will arrive in cinemas in 2026. There is a good chance that one will come out during the summer (probably the first) and the second during the Christmas period.
These two franchises are among Disney’s most famous. Toy Story revolutionized animation, being the first feature film entirely computer animated. With each release, millions of viewers return to their childhood by reuniting with Woody, Buzz and the other characters from this legendary saga. Each film is also an opportunity to reach new young viewers. As a reminder, at the end of Story of toys 4 released in 2019, Woody decided to leave Buzz and the other toys to go on an adventure with The Shepherdess. Seven years later, we should find out what will bring him back to his old friend.
From the part of Frozen 2, published in 2019, Elsa has become the guardian of the Enchanted Forest and Anna the new queen of Arendelle, ready to rule with kindness and justice. The two sisters accepted their different destinies, but they remained united by their unshakable bond. In this third film, a new threat should appear and push them to collaborate to ensure the peace of the Kingdom. A fourth film should then come to close their story.
Zootopia 2 it was also announced by Bob Iger, and will be released in 2025, nine years after the release of the original film which immersed us in the streets of Zootropolis, a city inhabited only by animals.
