And what A killer paradox ?
Available on Netflix, A killer paradox is a South Korean production that offers a tasty mix of genres, with an intriguing concept. The story follows Lee Tang, a fairly reserved and discreet boy who, since returning from military service, doesn’t really know what to do with his life. He would like to leave the city to visit the snowy landscapes of Canada. But this is more of a fantasy. And even though he has always let this happen, accustomed to bullying at school when he was in high school, his life will be turned upside down that day. in the end he decides to fight back. A blow that will be fatal to him and the beginning ofa decent descent into hell for Lee Tang.
At first anxious to see the police arrest him at any moment, he will begin to sink into a certain madness and become truly depressed after his action. Except his guilt will fade a little when he finds out the man he killed was a criminal wanted for a long time. The boy will then slowly allow himself to be convinced that he can be a vigilante who must eliminate people who deserve it. But since Inspector Nan-gam suspects him, he will be forced to completely change his life.
How much is the Netflix series worth?
A killer paradox on paper it has everything to please this original criminal intrigue (which he can remotely summon death Note OR Right) and a dose of lightness typical of Korean productions. The first episodes manage to convince by focusing on Lee Tang. The intelligence of the series is not to transform this average guy into an emotionless killing machine overnight. In contrast, Lee Tang will be struck by hallucinations after his first murder, allowing director Lee Chang-hee to shine with good ideas for the setupwhich offer some displacement.

Furthermore, the hero, well played by Choi Woo-shik (Parasite), first suffers a succession of events against him and above all tries to escape. Which makes the series captivating and tense. It is therefore surprising to see a change after several episodes, and Lee Tang fade slightly into the profile of the other characters. The show also loses realism, with this sort of sixth sense that allows the protagonist to identify his objectives. But A killer paradox always manages to surprise with twists during the violent sequences. Graphic violence that doesn’t overflow and serves the story (most of the time).
Consisting of eight episodes, season 1 ofA killer paradox therefore corresponds to expectations, without revolutionizing the genre. Placing the viewer next to a killer is relevant. But following this concept, Visibly onDisney+ had shown more audacity, on all levels. There is no doubt, however, that the series Netflix will be able to find its audience.
