Netflix is a hit with a new true crime
In recent weeks, Netflix has pleased fans of true crime publishing numerous documentaries on sordid criminal cases.
We can especially mention The truth kidnappedabout a terrifying kidnapping case that wasn’t taken seriously by the police, or even Lover Stalker Killer: The extreme exa case particularly sordid of harassment that led to something worse.
This week, another crime film made its way directly into the most-watched content on Netflix: Can I tell you a secret?a two-part documentary, available from February 21st.

A serial cyberstalker
The documentary Can I tell you a secret? focuses on a case of large-scale cyberstalking that occurred in the United Kingdom between 2009 and 2021. In the image we discover the terrifying testimonies of several women, all victims of a stalker which always used the same operating mode : the latter, after having usurped their identity on social networks, contacted the relatives of the victims by pretending to be them, thus destroying their lives. Despite reports of harassment, the victims were not taken seriously for years.
The Netflix documentary is based on the podcast of the same name launched by The Guardian in October 2022. This investigative podcast in six episodes have helped shed light on this large-scale case of cyber harassment. Journalist Sirin Kale explored how a single person managed to terrorize and abuse numerous victims through social media and other online platforms. The podcast examines the motivations behind cyberbullying and the devastating impact of its actions on victims, their friends, employers and families.
