Horizonthe return of Kevin Costner
This year we will be able to discover the first two parts of Kevin Costner’s great western: Horizon. It is an event, because the famous actor returns to directing, twenty years later Open field. The western succeeded him, given that in 1990 he created such a monument, Dancing with Wolvescrowned among others with seven Oscars, including that of Best film and of Best director. If he had not reissued a comparable performance with Open fieldreleased in 2004 in France, the latter was however very well received by the public and critics.
Given this pedigree, it is therefore with some impatience that the two films Horizon they are expected, the first June 28 and the second August 16, 2024.

Horizon, which should be understood as a saga, already has two films and should have a third, scheduled for 2025, for a total duration of around 10 hours. This project is a long-term project for Kevin Costner, who had already talked about it in an interview with Variety in 2016.
In this interview, when asked about the form – TV series or film – he will give to what is then only a project in development, he explains:
Maybe I’ll make three films. There’s also a fourth, so it’s really a saga. (…) I could do a series, but I could also do, every six months, great westerns linked together, like Jean de Florette and Manon des sources, where there is continuity.
Yes, you heard and read correctly, it is precisely the diptych produced by Claude Berri in 1986 that Kevin Costner refers to, Jean de Florette AND Manon of the sources, released three months later. The two films at the time had an international impact, and featured talents such as Yves Montand, Daniel Auteuil, Gérard Depardieu and Emmanuelle Béart in the cast. So, Kevin Costner was also doing this interview at the time 30 years after the theatrical release Jean de Florette AND Manon of the sourcesthe memory he retained of it was still vivid enough to draw inspiration from it for his project Horizon.
