Dune 2 : THE movie of the week
There was something for everyone at the movies during the week of February 21st. But for the one on February 28th the choice will be made quickly. Dune 2 it is obviously the great liberation. A highly anticipated blockbuster, after being postponed for several months due to the actors’ and actresses’ strike in Hollywood. Denis Villeneuve directs again and we find Timothée Chalamet in the role of Paul Atreides. The latter, after seeing the Harkonnen attack his people, found refuge with the Femen. Together they will lead the revolt against those who destroyed the Atreides family.
The first work was already supported by an exceptional cast which included, in addition to Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, Josh Brolin and Dave Bautista. They are accompanied this time by Austin Butler, Florence Pugh, Christopher Walken, Léa Seydoux and many others. An impressive cast, worthy of this film that allows”relaunch the great science fiction cinema with a prestigious, mature and reflective saga of its time” (see our review).
Other films to see at the cinema
Obviously, it’s difficult to do well this week against Dune 2. And although many new features have been planned, we keep very few of them. French historical drama, Madame de Sévignéwith Karin Viard, Ana Girardot and Cédric Kahn, should still appeal to fans of the genre. The film is set in the mid-17th century and follows the events of the Marquise de Sévigné who wishes to make her daughter a brilliant and independent woman. But the more she tries to have control over the young woman’s destiny, the more she rebels. Mother and daughter then experience the torments of a close and devastating relationship. From this devastation an important work of French literature was born.
Also on the French side, in a lighter genre, there is Fell from the trucka comedy with Patrick Timsit and Valérie Bonneton, of which here is the synopsis: When his fishing boat breaks down, Stan, a gruff old sailor, struggles to find his place on land. Françoise, his wife and his two children, police officers, are used to his bad temper and his little arguments, but his problems take on another dimension when he returns home with Bahman, 10, found in a stolen box …
Finally some romance this week with Tender, about an Ivorian woman who emigrates to China, and meets Cai, who works with her in a tea export shop. A film about the meeting of two cultures.
